    From previous SEE testing on the RT6804-11, a soft latch-up condition was identified with this device. When exposed to heavy ions, the RT6804-1’s supply current can increase from the typical 12mA to 30mA or higher. This condition can be corrected by pulling all of the cell pins to GND. ADI wanted to provide an application circuit that automatically detects and corrects this SEL condition using minimal external components.     Introduction. Metabolic bone disease is a malady that causessignificant morbidity and mortality to a patient who has sustaineda fragility fracture. There is currently no protocol toprevent secondary fragility fracture at our institution. The objectiveof this study was to create an appropriate protocol forimplementing clinical pathways for physicians to diagnose andtreat osteoporosis and fragility fractures by educating patients. Methods. A multidisciplinary team created an appropriateprotocol that could be implemented in an inpatient setting.A thorough literature review was conducted to evaluatepotential barriers and efficacious methods of protocol design. Results. A bone health improvement protocol was developed.Any patient over the age of 50 who sustains a fracture from lowenergy trauma, such as a fall from standing or less, should beconsidered to place into this protocol. These patients receivededucation on metabolic bone disease, a prescription for highdose vitamin D therapy, and laboratory testing to determinethe etiology of their metabolic bone disease. Continuity of careof these patients with their primary care provider was providedfor further management of their metabolic bone disease andevaluation of their disease after discharged from the hospital. Conclusion. Comprehensive secondary prevention should consistof osteoporosis assessment and treatment together with afall risk assessment.     GPUVerify: A Verifier for GPU Kernels

    We present a technique for verifying race- and divergence-freedom of GPU kernels that are written in mainstream ker-nel programming languages such as OpenCL and CUDA. Our approach is founded on a novel formal operational se-mantics for GPU programming termed synchronous, delayed visibility (SDV) semantics. The SDV semantics provides a precise definition of barrier divergence in GPU kernels and allows kernel verification to be reduced to analysis of a sequential program, thereby completely avoiding the need to reason about thread interleavings, and allowing existing modular techniques for program verification to be leveraged. We describe an efficient encoding for data race detection and propose a method for automatically inferring loop invari-ants required for verification. We have implemented these techniques as a practical verification tool, GPUVerify, which can be applied directly to OpenCL and CUDA source code. We evaluate GPUVerify with respect to a set of 163 kernels drawn from public and commercial sources. Our evaluation demonstrates that GPUVerify is capable of efficient, auto-matic verification of a large number of real-world kernels

    Herbivores Alleviate the Negative Effects of Extreme Drought on Plant Community by Enhancing Dominant Species

    Aims Both extreme drought and insect herbivores can suppress plant growth in grassland communities. However, most studies have examined extreme drought and insects in isolation, and there is reason to believe that insects might alter the ability of grasslands to withstand drought. Unfortunately, few studies have tested the interactive effects of extreme drought and insect herbivores in grassland communities. Methods Here, we tested the drought–herbivore interactions using a manipulative experiment that factorially crossed extreme drought with the exclusion of insect herbivores in a temperate semiarid grassland in Inner Mongolia. Important Findings Our results demonstrated that both extreme drought and insect herbivores separately decreased total plant cover. When combined, insect herbivores reduced the impact of drought on total cover by increasing the relative abundance of drought-resistant dominant species. Our results highlight that the negative effect of extreme drought on total plant cover could be alleviated by maintaining robust insect herbivore communities
